Data Centre Pricing in Europe 2010 to 2015
The Data Centre Pricing in Europe 2010 to 2015 report is based on the data assembled for Tariff Consultancy Ltd’s subscription service the Data Centre Price Tracker which has been published every quarter since April 2007. With the Data Centre Pricing in Europe 2010 to 2015 report, we have extended the coverage and analysis of the Data Centre Price Tracker from 14 European countries to 19 countries. We have also researched more information from the individual Data Centre operators to include information on capacity trends and business models practiced in each country.
Scope of the report
We have analysed the Data Centre market separately in each of the 19 countries. We have included both Carrier Based Data Centre providers (which only provide access to a limited number of telecoms network providers (typically the network owner plus one other) and is owned by a telecoms operator) and the Carrier Neutral Data Centre provider (which is independently owned from a telecoms operator and which has at least 3 or more telecoms networks).
Details of the report
In Europe there are three main categories of Data Centre provider which are available in all countries. The main types are Carrier Based Data Centre providers, Pan-European Carrier Neutral Data Centre providers and locally based Carrier Neutral Data Centre providers.
We compare pricing for a standard 19 inch rack, for caged space and cross connect rentals across as many of the Data Centre providers as possible in all of the 19 European countries in our report. We include the main price points available for 19 inch racks that may include low, medium or high power bundles with the per rack price. The Per Rack price typically includes a 16 A single phase power supply.
The Per Rack rental price usually includes the right to use a given amount of power from the Data Centre provider, but the power cost will be calculated and applied separately (usually 3 months in arrears with an extra administration charge). The Per Rack rental price varies according to the bundle of power that the customer expects to use.
There is no VAT (or any other taxes) included in the Data Centre rental pricing or in the power costs. The power costs given per country are for the highest level industrial electricity user. They are expressed in Kilowatt per Hour and are converted into Euro Cents.
