Do People Really Overcome Food Addiction
I think the more suitable question that should be asked will probably be: Do people genuinely change?
Say you decided to try to ask the famous or instead notorious Dr. House, you’ll probably get a skeptical snort. He passionately states that men and women never genuinely alter their ways. Okay, you caught me, I don’t know why I still follow the tv show, but it intrigues me probably because I think otherwise.
While we’re talking television, I too get a peek every now and then of Oprah at the health club and I do appreciate the idea that she, as well as others like Dr Phil, continually advocates change. They believe that the a person’s mind is very resilient and may indeed change if someone might take the steps needed.
In my honest opinion: Change is difficult. Unfortunately we cannot change in one day, in a week or even a month. A few things could be deep seated. If you suffer from any sort of addiction, including food addiction, you will know precisely what I’m speaking about. Not only do we’ve got our ancient behavior to cope with, but we’re furthermore up against our private hang-ups. Don’t let the laid-back phrase mislead you either, those hang-ups can be devastating blows that we took to our mind, such as abuse, neglect and molestation to merely mention a few.
Looking back on my life, there were just as many situations, where I received no response and nothing changed. I would beg God, I would rebuke the enemy, I would try my very best to do it myself but yet…totally nothing. Some things only change with time, and then I’m not especially confident that some of these will ever change. Then again, while you keep strolling through this life, you start to understand: God wants you to be free, but in His time. Why? Definitely not because He has any kind of an ego problem. No, because He knows you, He is aware of exactly what you require to help keep you close to Him (the most important thing in your life) and He knows the forthcoming future (no arguing with that!)
To sum it all up: Change is attainable! Really doable with God! The Scriptures says that all things are possible with God. So reach for the sky. Pray for immediate release from your food addiction, believe for it, keep praying. At that point, in the event the change does not come right away, dig deeper. Don’t just give up. Only those who look past the filth and rubbish reaches the gems. You too can discover it…
