Finding the Best Business Niche or Micro Niche To Use

The internet is a huge place. For this reason we must choose smaller areas to work in that will bring us more steam-lined, focused results. For instance, if you just put ‘business’ into a search, you may get every type of business imaginable. But if your interest is in plumbing businesses or chiropractic services, this will narrow your search substantially.
This is why we must think in terms of keywords. They are like keys that unlock doors on the internet. This article is not about keyword research, but this is very important, because a simple change in keywords can bring a lot more interest. Whether you search for such things as “services, problems, pricing, tips, cheap,” - or any number of other words, can make a big difference in the traffic that is drawn to these words.
If you are trying to establish a website or business in a certain select area, then you need to choose the keywords that are in small parts of this niche, but that are searched for by the most people. Research is keenly important before you create, or begin to promote your business. The way you promote your product on line can even be more important than the product itself. In fact, many affiliate marketers do promote the same product - but they achieve very different and varying results.
There are free keyword tools to help you find the most searched for terms. www.GoogleAdwords is an important free tool. Another good free tool is found at www.WordStream.com . Naturally, there are also a number of paid services that many claim are even better.

You must remember that the more specialized you become in a given niche or micro niche, the fewer potential customers there will be, but the fewer competitors there will be too. Personally, I like to go into www.Amazon.com and click on their magazine and book pages. If books and magazines exist about certain niches, then you are safely safe in assuming there is sufficient interest in them. Under each category you will see various SUB-categories listed. These are micro-niches. A good tool to use in your search here is www.Google.com/sktool .

For instance, if you look under “health, mind and body,” you find things like these: alternative medicine, beauty, fashion, diets, weight loss, health, men’s, women’s, nutrition, psychology, counseling, and relationships. If you click on health, it takes you further in to such things as self, attitude, spiritual, iron, happiness, sex, autism, heart, specific weight loss, etc.

Just roaming the yellow pages of the telephone book gives you many ideas of things people think are important. Then there are things like eBay and Craigslist too. It just takes a little brainstorming is all it takes, and of course ask your friends - especially those who are shoppers. They have many good ideas of niche markets, products and services you would never think of. That’s what the bottom line of all this is: (1) simply networking and getting ideas, (2) then searching deeper to establish the area you are truly best suited for.

It’s better to do research before you start something new than after you’ve begun. It can save you a lot of turmoil and stress - not to mention money.
