Gaming Apps for the HTC Inspire
Free Sudoku is an app that streamlines and consolidates thousands and thousands of Sudoku puzzles for mobile gamers. Sudoku is a Japanese number puzzle similar in some ways to a crossword. Users are presented with a nine by nine grid divided into nine three by three squares. Some of the squares contain numbers; many are blank. The object is to fill in the blank squares so that every row, column, and three by three block contain exactly one of each digit. To fill in all the blanks, the player must have to use deduction and reasoning skills to decide which numbers are missing. Sudoku range in difficulty from the simple to the sublimely difficult generally based on the amount of blank squares on the board. Be sure to pick up a backup charger…nothing is more frustrating than losing a 95% complete Sudoku puzzle due to a drained battery!
This is the Android Market version of the classic card game. This game follows the same basic rules as the classic Blackjack Game. Players are dealt two cards, as is the dealer. Players attempt to get their hand’s total value as close to twenty-one as possible without going over. If the player is closer to twenty-one than the dealer, or if the dealer’s hand adds up to more than twenty-one, the player wins. After the initial cards are dealt, players can request another card, stand pat, and make other plays such as doubling their bet for one more card (doubling down) or splitting a pair of cards with the same values into two separate hands. If a player is dealt an ace and face card or ten as their initial hand, he or she wins at odds of 3:2. If the dealer is dealt an ace and face card or ten, the player automatically loses. Blackjack on the Android Market also comes with a table laying out basic strategy for the game, that is, what the best decisions are (based on the odds) for even combination of cards. This can be handy for trips to casinos in real life!
Angry Birds is a casual game where players launch a variety of upset avians into structures built by the birds’ arch-enemies, the pigs. The point of the game is to shoot these little birds onto the castles while crushing all the bad piglets. As you proceed in the game, more different birds become playable, all executing different effects like splitting into 5 or dropping down bombs. Newly released in the Android Market, Angry Birds is available for free through several retailers’ promotions and giveaways. Angry Birds is enormously popular in the casual game market, especially among younger players. Be sure to invest in a sturdy case before handing your smart phone to any younger gamers, however.
Whether your taste runs more towards easy-to-play, vibrant casual games, or slow, methodical hunts for the right digit in a Sudoku puzzle, the right game for the job is never more than a few taps away. Phones such as the Inspire are the cutting edge of mobile technology at present, meaning that customers who enjoy gaming on the go have a lot to look forward to in the coming years as the mobile genre expands to meet the growing need for smart phones!
