Richard Garriott in the Walk of Fame
American Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (Academy of Interactive Arts and Science), which brings together leading developers of computer entertainment, has honored Richard “Lord British” Garriott membership in the Walk of Fame. Thanks joined the exclusive circle of such legends as Sid Meier, Peter Molyneux and Shigeru Miyamoto.
The nickname “Lord British” gave me the older friends in high school, who claimed that I have a British accent. And so it remained until today - he laughs Garriott, who despite the fact that for years he lived in Texas, was born in Cambridge English.
Richard Garriott is one of the most famous artists in the history of computer entertainment. In 1982, he founded Origin Systems, which developed under the banner of his life’s work - numbering more than a dozen of the role-playing game-like series of Ultima. In 1997, suffered a resounding success, releasing Ultima Online - one of the first and most popular online game in the history of MMORPG-s. Since 2000, Garriott is no longer in Originie. He joined the company NC Soft, for which created yet another MMO-legend - Lineage. He is currently producing the game Tabula Rasa.
