Sneak Peek: 3 Uncharted: Drake’s Deception
LONDON (Gamer.no): Last week Sony invited us to the English capital to watch some of their upcoming titles. Despite the fact that it still was not playable for journalists, it was not surprising that much talked 3 Uncharted: Drake’s Deception, who ran off with a lot of attention.
I will not lie, I’m one of many who like adventure games for the feisty American, as we aficionados simply call Drake. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is in my eyes two great games, and has made the Uncharted franchise is one of Sony’s by far the strongest.
In the familiar style
There is no doubt that the third chapter in the series is going to be faithful to its predecessors to offer the same gameplay:
- Uncharted 3 is all about Nathan Drake and his being. The focus is on telling a story, and we want to innovate the technological aspect. Naughty Dog is focused on delivering the “blockbuster” game play, or what we like to call the interactive cinematic experience, “said Frank Meyer from Naughty Dog.
In Drake’s Deception, we will once again return to the Sir Francis Drake and his raljeringer in the 1500s. Without that developers would look with too much, they could tell that one of the game’s mysteries related to the circumnavigation of the old British knight Drake. There is something about the dates of the voyage that is not true, and he has spent too long on some stages without it being shown why in his logging.
Furthermore, we get acquainted with Thomas Edward Lawrence, or Lawrence of Arabia as he is known by. Lawrence was an archaeologist who ran the excavations and treasure hunts in the early 1900′s. Asked whether there was any truth in the rumors swarming in the spring of last year about whether Norway and Roald Amundsen were represented in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, “said Meyer that it was the first time he had heard something like that, but made it clear however that the do not want to divulge all of the action before the game comes out.
Extended action repertoire
The developers say they have added considerably greater importance to the environment in the game to be more dynamic. Drake will be a far more organic and responsive game character that performs its actions from the context he’s put in, whether it is to climb on walls, jumping over obstacles and so on. A better motion control will make you feel a better connection between Drake and the beautiful environments. Moreover, it added up to more combat than before, and you can now fight with multiple enemies simultaneously in pure barstil.
Naughty Dog showed an extended version of “Chateau” the movie they gave the media a few weeks ago. The film shows Drake and his older helps Sully as they try to get out of a small old castle as a group of people with very different priorities, choose to set on fire.
What we got to see the witness that the game is very similar to his predecessors in design and style. The graphical page contains a huge detail, and the sound of burning wood and a building that gradually breaks down is very real and evocative. An element that further enhances the voltage and the entertainment factor is a fast-changing and suspense-oriented camera that can get blood pumped to go with anyone and everyone. There is something breathless about it when everything Drake takes in or run on the races together in the fire, and it is remarkable that a man should have been invalid or death about 20 times in ten minutes of play, is on his third of these radbrekkende adventures .
Not all that glitters gold
It still seems sadly out of the game’s shoot precious still holding a somewhat mediocre quality. Uncharted is true, like for example the Grand Theft Auto games, never been a shooter. The shooting is just another stress factor to keep the explorative player entertained.
It is worth mentioning that there is something in the way småkleint weapons falls to the ground after you shot an enemy. Their shiny and almost cartoon-like appearance has indeed a functional site, but it is one of the few things that break with immersion in a visually stunning world of Naughty Dog create. The gun mechanics suffer the same fate, and despite feeling that the weapons are sitting pretty good, it is remarkable that you have to shoot three shots in the head of an enemy without a helmet, before he falls dead.
I must point out that even though I love my shooters and see the weaknesses of Uncharted on this point at which, as much I enjoyed my game both number one and two. It can certainly be done better, but there are other aspects of the game that is so overwhelming that they sometimes completely overshadows the shooting.
Conclusion
3 Uncharted: Drake’s Deception seems to be another cannon game from Naughty Dog solid. Since no one has been tested the game or seen anything other than a trailer from the desert and gameplay from Drake’s face with a burning castle, it is still difficult to say whether the game can reach the voltage peak as particularly Uncharted 2 came up on.
That said, it seems as if the game differs relatively little from the previous one, and I am an adventurer’s heart to see that the focus is still on creating magical and visually stunning worlds and let the player be allowed to solve the mysteries that are loosely connected to reality - much like a game version of a Dan Brown book.
It seems that Naughty Dog and the team behind Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception have full control of what they are doing, so it’s probably time for another exciting and action-packed adventure when the game comes out 1 November this year.
