Steve Jobs: A True Warrior
In the recent times, we are becoming more aware of the disease called as Pancreatic Cancer since many personalities are suffering from this disease. As for instance, Luciano Pavarotti had expired in September 2007 because of pancreatic cancer; Patrick Swayze is battling against this disease since years. Steve jobs, the Apple CEO, have been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his pancreas in year 2004.
Pancreatic Cancer is a malignant neoplasm of the pancreas. By the end of the year 2010, in the United States, it has been estimated that around 43,140 individuals will be dignosed with this condition and 36,800 will die from the disease.
Being called as a silent killer, the disease sometimes does not often get diagnosed until it is advanced. Few common symptoms of the disease are as follows:
Pain in the upper portion of abdomen.
Loss of Appetite.
There will be a significant weight loss.
Many patients suffering from pancreatic cancer develop diabetes months to even years before they are diagnosed with the disease.
Steve was diagnosed with this disease in the year 2004. Named as islet cell neuroendocrine tumor, this is a rare form of pancreatic cancer, which required Steve to have a tumor removed from his pancreas. The process is called pancreaticodupdenectomy and it seems that the tumor has been removed fruitfully. He did not have to undergo chemotherapy or radiation.
Apple is one of the popular and much liked companies of today. The company is successfully running by Steve Job’s innovative and smart business sense. It would be really sad if somebody like Steve Jobs has had to go through this at the early age of 50. But, perhaps, even something as evil as cancer can give some good results, probably in the form of a research endorsement from Jobs to discover improved treatments for liver cancer.
