The PlayStation Portable

The PlayStation Portable, Officially abbreviated as PSP) is a handheld game console manufactured and sold by Sony Computer Entertainment. Its development was announced to the E ? 2003 and was officially unveiled on 11 May 2004 at a press conference before E ? 2004. The console was released in Japan December 12, 2004, USA and in Canada March 24, 2005 and in Europe and Australia on 1 September 2005. The PlayStation Portable offers the ability to play games, watch videos, listen to music, view images, also providing (in the newer versions of the firmware) the possibility of using a separate Internet browser.

Significant also is integrated support for Wi-Fi, which lets you connect to the Internet and the simultaneous participation of more players (up to 32 in some titles) certain games. It was presented in Japan a new PSP model, the 3000 version, which adds new enhancements, such as an improved screen, with many more colors and a low coefficient of reflection, the improved video out with support also non-HD TV, a built-in microphone, useful for Skype & Co, and the word HOME is now being replaced by the symbol PlayStation.

Since October 1 is the market the new PSP Go!, Which has a screen of 3.8 inches (brighter by 43% compared to the PSP-3000), a flash memory, 16 GB, will also feature Bluetooth and will not be present the reader UMD but only digital downloads directly to your hard drive. This new version was presented at E3 2009.

After more than five years, the full set of PSP will be joined and then replaced by the PSP 2, Sony’s new handheld console that will debut worldwide in the winter of 2011.
